Strength calculations

Over the past few years our office has performed many strength calculations for various customers including private individuals and insurers.

Calculations of base structures, transverse section structures, for example... Also fore and aft strength calculations are often performed by us or longitudinal bending torque calculations.

A wide range of strength calculations are possible within the inland navigation sector. Van Pelt & Co is the right firm for the job.

Thankfully over the last few years we have increasingly found that strength calculations are completed in advance, before even starting to think about the different types of structure.

Propeller shafts
With renewal of the certificate after 01 January 2015, all the shaft ceilingducts of rudder stocks and of (propeller)shafts need to be conducted, so, that no water polluted lubricants can come out. This means that, also for existing ships, rudder stocks and propeller shafts should provide an outer seal. We advise you, when a rudder stock or propeller shaft must be disassembled for example (damage)repair, to use the opportunity to place an outer seal, including any modification of the rudder stock or propeller shaft.
